Day 10: Exploring Halong Bay

After breakfast at the hotel, we headed to the Cat Ba Ventures office to start our two-day boat tour of Halong Bay. At the beginning, we had to take a minibus from the city to the port, where we boarded a transfer boat that took us to our overnight boat in the afternoon. However, before that, our tour guide Duke showed us the incredibly beautiful bay and told us about the floating homestays. We passed by floating villages and small fish farms in the middle of the water, admired the passing rocks, and the green-blue water. Before the extensive lunch, we had the opportunity to jump into the cold water from the deck, which was a lot of fun despite the cool water and air temperature of 20°C and gave us an adrenaline rush. After a full belly, we went kayaking through narrow caves to hidden lagoons, getting quite wet from paddling. When we could finally check into our room on the larger boat in the afternoon, we freshened up and got rid of the saltwater. After a hearty dinner, we had the opportunity to go squid fishing at night. Unfortunately, nobody was able to catch anything, despite having a lot of fun. We ended the evening in a cozy round on the deck.
