Lovina (Bali) + Dolphin tour

Çap edildi: 17.08.2023

Lovina is a approximately 12 km long coastal strip with several settlements and was discovered by hippies in the 1970s as an inexpensive destination with unique nature & beautiful sunsets.

We put this destination on our itinerary because we really wanted to swim with dolphins (which should be possible here😜) and mass tourism has not yet taken hold in the northern part of Bali.

In Lovina, we stayed in beautiful bungalows. The location was wonderful, nestled in a well-kept garden, the accommodation offered 5 bungalows with a pool and direct sea view. The only downside was the beach access, which was difficult at low tide. But we enjoyed the two days in Lovina!😎😁 By the way, a one-hour Balinese massage cost an incredible 7.50€ here...🙌

On the second day, we started our dolphin tour at 7 am. Obviously, we were not the only tourists, but we were really lucky with our provider. He showed us at the beginning what mass tourism could look like, with groups of boats chasing dolphins near the beach. We were disappointed after seeing 1-2 dolphins between the boats, we thought that was it... but then the excursion turned into one of the highlights of our vacation.

We left the many boats behind and continued along the coast until we were almost alone. In perfect conditions (no waves, no wind, no clouds,...) we enjoyed coffee and fried bananas in the open sea. Then it really started. We jumped into the water, while the boat pulled us along the side, we observed the underwater world including glowing plankton and there they were - the dolphins. A swarm of about 25-30 animals surrounded us, they appeared, jumped, played, and then dove together - an unforgettable experience!🐬

At the end of the excursion, snorkeling was on the agenda. Lying in the hammock, which was attached to the front side of the boat, we tuckered towards the coral reef. There we could see a few Nemos & other colorful fish.

Finally, the captain brought us back to the accommodation almost directly by boat, where we were able to enjoy another extensive breakfast.
