Football Match Internationals vs. Koreans

Çap edildi: 04.05.2022

On Monday, the sports days of my university began, in which I also participate. I signed up for the football team of the international students (or rather, they wanted me ;-) ) and was hoping to show the Koreans how to play. We met on Tuesday for a small preparation training, but only 8 boys showed up and not all of them had football shoes. We did some passing drills and played, but my chances of success for the team were gone...

For the first match on Tuesday, we again didn't have 11 players available but only 9, nevertheless we decided to try it against 11 (+substitutes). Our team consisted of an Uzbek, Ukrainian, French, Spanish, Dutch, 2 Germans, and 2 Finns.

Match:

With a smile on the face of the opponents and the hope of not being shot down, the match started with 9 against 11. In order to show respect, the teams lined up and bowed to each other before the kick-off. Bastian (also German) and I decided to take over the defense as center backs and keep the goal shut, which we managed to do until a free kick. Due to our goalkeeper's miscalculation (who had never played football before), the ball sailed over him into the goal. We all did our best, but we went into halftime with 0 chances, 0 goals, 1 conceded goal, and 30 prevented chances.

In the second half, we played with more pressing, attacking earlier and even had a chance and two corners. The offensive game naturally took its toll, so we conceded 3 goals in the second half, all of which were very bitter.

The final result of 9 vs 11 was a 4-0 with many open knees and the decision not to play with 9 again on Saturday. Against the best team in the university, that could be very embarrassing and we all need to be able to run again by then.

Afterwards, we all went to a nearby restaurant for Chicken+Beer before heading home.

By the way, I was equipped with football shoes from the Korean army, which I bought for 7€ :D
