Queenstown (New Zealand Part 31)

Çap edildi: 22.01.2019

Queenstown is known for all kinds of extreme sports and more or less crazy activities. The first bungee jump in New Zealand took place from a bridge over the Kawarau River near Queenstown. To this day, you can test your courage there. We looked at the bridge and the view, but we didn't dare to jump.

To have an even better view, we took the cable car to a lookout terrace from which you could overlook parts of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu.

At the top, there was the "Luge" for those who prefer to go a little faster. There you could ride downhill in small carts.

We also moved quickly on the water: we took a jet boat on Lake Wakatipu, which reached speeds of up to 90 km/h. The fact that it was drizzling a bit didn't matter much because we got wet from the spray anyway during the 360° spins.

We had actually booked a parasailing trip as well. In parasailing, you are towed behind a boat with a parachute and can fly over the lake. Unfortunately, it was canceled due to the wind.

For another flying activity, we just watched, also because 90 euros for 2 minutes seemed disproportionately expensive to us... But "ifly" is completely weather independent because you can experience the feeling of flying in a wind tunnel.

Of course, we also took a walk through the town, for which you don't need too much time. Queenstown seems to consist mainly of hotels, restaurants, and booking agencies for activities.

But there are also some beautiful buildings to see.

On a peninsula, there was a botanical garden with rose beds and a park. There were also warning signs about the danger of flying frisbees: there was a Frisbee golf course that was used by multiple players when we were there. In this game, you have to throw a frisbee disc into baskets spread out over the area with as few throws as possible.
