16a Walk through Helsinki

My original plan was: I am flying to Helsinki with my eBike and from here I am riding on 2 wheels through Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen back home. At that time, I did not know that eBikes are not allowed on the plane due to the risk of explosion.

Now I have arrived in Helsinki safe and sound even without my eBike. I am very happy about that. 😊

Actually, I am not a fan of city sightseeing. Nevertheless, today I wanted to explore Helsinki by foot despite the cool weather. I am aware that I cannot claim to know this city because of that. But better a little than nothing.

I also took this opportunity to buy food for tomorrow. It is much easier without the bike.

But even without delving deep, I noticed that there are many impressive buildings. The market hall with the many small restaurants inside reminded me a lot of Madrid. I have seen something comparable there with André.

Spring is about 3 to 4 weeks behind compared to Switzerland. A Finn told me that at this time, there is still often ice floating in front of the harbor. At least that is no longer the case, although it is still cool.

After the nearly two-hour walk, I was frozen through and glad to be able to warm up again in the hotel.
