Lappland - Storforsen Rapids - August 15th

Çap edildi: 17.08.2019

We decide to get a little closer to Finland and drive further west in the province of Norrbotten, at the height of Piteå.

Lappland... after just a few kilometers, you already feel like you're in the middle of nowhere... our destination is the Storforsen Rapids, Scandinavia's largest rapids. The weather welcomes us with rain...!

Jörn left his rain jacket at home, quite optimistic...! On the way here, we looked for something useful, but found nothing...! So we thought, let's ask here at the tourist information just 50 meters away from the campsite if they have an umbrella, because we didn't bring one either...! Unfortunately, no umbrellas available... but they gave us a free, lovely lilac rain cape! Good thing we didn't buy a new rain jacket for Örni beforehand. It suits him very well!

Half an hour after arrival, the weather improved again and we took advantage of the opportunity to go up.

The power of the masses is impressive...! It can't really be captured in pictures. The loud noise of the rapids and the constant spray of rain on our faces... you can't get it into a photo....!

Once we reached the top, we had a beer as a reward and after a little break, we walked through the connected nature reserve. By the way, Jörni had a short appearance on the local open-air stage in between - SOLD OUT...! The highlight of the show: Örni flying through the raging crowd with the lilac rain cape... Unfortunately, there are no pictures of it, as there was no film in the camera... Only the soundcheck photo is available. But I can tell you: Fantastic! Then we went back down over rocks and stones to the base.

This is pure nature... although... that's what our backyard looks like at home :) But here it's Swedish...

As usual, there's nothing going on at the campsite and we enjoy the view of the rapids with the cozy sheepskins behind us, BEAUTIFUL!

We drink a lot of canned beer again after a long time. To get really tipsy, you really have to drink a lot of beer here... similar to trying to get drunk with shandy in our country, it's actually impossible...! The beer here in the supermarkets has a whopping 3.5% (...!!!)

By drinking the beer supply for two days, we achieve the desired state, listen to nice music, just look around and laugh our heads off in between! Good night...
