Koh Chang - we saw a shark!!

Çap edildi: 30.01.2017

Jaja. Also wer jetz nur aufgrund des Titels geklickt hat und ausnahmsweise mal liest, anstatt sich nur die Bilder anzuschauen, dem soll gesagt sein:

Bleib dran! Und lies bis zum Ende!

KOH CHANG.

The so-called Elephant ISLAND (believe it's the 2nd or 3rd largest in Thailand) is approximately HERE:

We have now set up camp at the border with Cambodia and approximately 7 hours away from Bangkok.

When we exchanged the taxi for the ferry, which was supposed to take us to our accommodation, the first thing we noticed was how crazy the roads here are.

Okay. So you can picture what 'crazy' means:

The roads are steep. Like really steep.

Up and down.

Up again.

Down again.

Narrow serpentine roads.

Partly unpaved lanes.

Cars that suddenly come towards you on your side.

And a scooter that is neither steering properly nor has brakes that I 100% trust.

I've been driving a scooter almost daily for almost 6 weeks now.

But as insecure as today, probably only on my very first ride ever.

But hey. We survived. 💪

The scooter did too.

By the way, a guy right in front of us failed on these weird roads just now.

In the curve, he was ripped off the road. Luckily, there was a bush there.

I couldn't ask him if everything was okay, because we were going uphill and you can't just stop there.

Otherwise, we would have toppled over and landed next to him.

But he immediately got up again.

So he probably only got a few scrapes and a big fright.

........................................................

By the way, the bungalow that we only discovered by chance is great.

Perfect location. (Of course, there's always room for improvement)

Nice operators. (Or at least not the opposite)

Tasty food. (although expensive)

Everything very clean. (apart from the obligatory ant trails in the bathroom)

And we have a pool. (which we probably won't use anyway)

When we woke up this morning (both with the beginning of a cold), we had breakfast first and then finally explored the island.

We didn't drive around the entire island, but I can already say:

Sorry Lanta, but you're now only in 2nd place!

There is tourism, but not nearly as much as in other places or on other islands.

Palm trees everywhere.

The amazing water.

The people are relaxed, there are many hippies.

It's somehow very quiet, even when people are sitting next to you.

The sunsets are really beautiful.

And there are puppies everywhere right now!!

We already met this one yesterday and hey, I'd really like to pack him up and take him with us!!

How do you like our buddy down here?

I think he's a real beauty.

In his own unique way:

Even hamsters look a bit different here than we know from Germany:

And cats. Um.. well...

As you all know, I'm absolutely fascinated by them... Not!

But this one was right up my alley:

One eye beautiful, the other one not present, she chilled and then (when she had enough of the photo shoot with me) showed me her teeth.

Afterwards, we went to a pier.

There was a market on the platforms and we strolled over there.

You know that feeling when you see something like this and your mouth starts watering immediately??

('I don't!')

----------------------------------------

Congratulations, by the way, if you've made it this far.

Because now I will finally release you from the unbearable tension and report on our SHARK SIGHTING!! 😱

We've never seen a shark before.

Have you?

But be careful!

Because of course, I had my camera in hand to share this special moment with you... Here it is:

What can I say:

EAT OR BE EATEN! 😏

End of the story. 🔚

Well.

And otherwise.

Hmm.

Lisa and I fit together like a glove.

Dumb and dumb gets along well. (as the Japanese say)

And that's why it was a really funny day today.

We had sea sand peels, mud packs, laughing fits, and a broken door in the bungalow...

Now a few visual impressions from here to there.

From us to you.

From Thailand to Germany.

.........................................

But I warn you.

The following pictures can be very provocative for those affected by winter!!

(If you keep scrolling: Tough.) 😇

Finally, a special greeting to my old travel companion, who has been back in cold Germany for a few 'hours':

Jule, I empathize with you and in my thoughts, I'm wearing a scarf and thick socks in solidarity.

Don't get bored over there and take care of yourself.

The roads are supposed to be very slippery. ❄😎
