First day on O‘ahu, first breakfast, typical American. Portions that no one can finish, we could have easily fed two. Everything is expensive since 80% of consumer goods have to be imported. And the American lifestyle with its plastic and disposable madness doesn't really fit here. Well, the people are in a good mood and friendly, everything is flowing along without haste. The traffic is also very relaxed. And what a joy, there are street names again, you know where you are 👍🏻😁.
We strolled around Waikiki and its shopping malls, visited the National Geographics gallery, the pictures were stunning!
Of course, we also browsed the Harley store, but haven't bought anything yet. We couldn't decide, we'll have to go again 😂.
In the afternoon, we drove to the North Coast, along Highway 1, the first part is not very attractive, but as soon as we leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind, it gets more beautiful. And when we reach the coast, it's just madness! Those waves, you could watch them for hours!
Swimming here is not advisable, the waves and the undertow would pull you out to the open sea. But you can get your feet wet. And if you're good enough, you can surf...
At a food truck on the beach, we treat ourselves to fresh shrimp, really delicious.
On the way back, we make a stop in the historic city center of Waialua, try shave ice. It's water ground into snow and topped with syrup (pineapple and mango, tasty). Then we make our way back to the hotel.
