'I'm sitting in a Starbucks in Phuket...'
Or rather in a Starbucks in Perpignan, catching up on the posts of the past few days.
Hello and welcome,
As I said, I'm in Perpignan, just before the border with Spain with a view of the Pyrenees. On the way from Avignon to Perpignan, I stopped in the fishing town of Sète and took a look at the city center. Since it was a public holiday, I was able to park for free all over the city, and I took advantage of that to park within walking distance of the harbor.
As you can see from the photos, it was a bit cloudy, and honestly, I was very happy that the sun wasn't scorching down on me. The city itself is an old fishing village, which is definitely geared towards tourism and provides quick access to the beaches in the region. For me, it was a bit bleak, but I've gotten used to a lot of green in the past few days.
That's why I started looking for green and a public toilet after a 3-hour drive.
For now, I found green and Gini.
Wherever there is a larger crowd, there is usually a toilet nearby, so I headed towards the market hall, hoping that the public holiday wouldn't affect its opening hours. Lucky me - it didn't. So, a toilet and a visit to the market.
The French really know how shopping and eating work. My mouth was watering!
On the way back to the car, I found an octopus statue or rather a pigeon stand.
And on the way back, I took the snapshot of the day, and Sète lost some of its bleakness.
I'm a big fan of street art! It makes the world a little brighter!
Another 2 hours later, I arrived in Perpignan and spent the evening there, winding down with a fail of the day and a lesson for life. But more about that in the next post about Perpignan.
Until then, stay healthy and take care!
Yours, Britta
