A day in the car... (Day 4)

Today we spent most of the day in the car. To get from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale National Park, we had to travel over 600 km. Luckily, the roads were consistently well-maintained, so the journey was long but not too difficult. Along the way, the landscape slowly changed as we drove higher and higher, eventually passing through numerous tea plantations.

On the way, we stopped at a local restaurant for lunch. Since Iwan didn't know how they prepared the food there, we ate packed lunches. It's important to be cautious about where we eat to ensure our safety and our stomachs. After lunch, with our guide's permission, we were able to give the leftovers to the children who had been curiously watching us the whole time. Contrary to our expectations, the children shared the food fairly and even shared with each other.

Before reaching our next accommodation, we made a small stop at a tea field where Iwan explained a bit about tea cultivation.

After the long car ride, we finally reached the next lodge in the late afternoon at an altitude of about 2400 meters, accompanied by a small thunderstorm. Beautifully situated on the hillside, we could see the Kibale National Park and the mountains from our cabins. Unfortunately, the visibility wasn't great, so we could only imagine the mountains.

We ended the evening with a cocktail, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, before the 'Hirnbirn' led us back down the hill to our cottage, which was so secluded in the forest that it felt like we were all alone. And so, in the middle of the night, we were (probably) awakened by a monkey jumping on our roof...
