Travel to Kyoto

We packed our suitcases and wanted to take the subway from the hotel to the train station, which is only two stops away, this morning. The originally simple transfer turned into an adventure. We tried in vain to get on the first arriving subway, people were almost sticking to the windows.

On the second or rather fourth attempt, 6 of us managed to get on - how, remains a mystery. The others then took a taxi. Just before the departure of the Shinkansen train to Kyoto, we all found each other again.

We really like Kyoto! We visited the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine before reaching the highlight of the day, albeit delayed due to a train malfunction: Wearing a kimono to Kiyomizu! It was an impressive experience to spend a few hours in a kimono and walk to the temple in flip-flops.

The day ended with a delicious yakitori dinner in Kyoto, where we first had to take off our shoes and then simply enjoy the wonderful cuisine!
