Day 4 - From Sao Simão to Ponte de Lima

After a very quiet night for a hostel, we set off on our 4th stage from São Simão to Ponte de Lima around 07:30 am - one of the most beautiful stages so far😊 At this early time, there is hardly anything happening and the cool temperatures as well as the first daylight have their very special charm!

At some point I have to take off my jacket and Sandra goes ahead on her own, but then Luca passes by me and we walk the next 7km together. We quickly reach one of my favorite places on the entire Camino - a truly wonderful little forest, the beauty and scent of which cannot be captured or described in pictures. Everyone you meet later agrees on this...

Actually, a small bar should appear for breakfast after a short time, but we didn't see it (I had lunch there last year). Instead, we walk straight into the current tree felling work - of course, there is no sign of safety precautions here🙈 but everything goes well and so we continue on paved roads through vineyards, until we finally reach a bar after about 7km. After a coffee and a snack, we continue for the next 5km to Ponte de Lima, also one of my favorite cities on the Camino. But I will tell you more about that tomorrow...😉

After a wonderful and relaxed day, an excellent dinner and a glass of wine by the Lima river, it's time to go to bed, because tomorrow we face the steepest stage of the entire Camino Portugues💪🏻😬 The weather forecast is at least a bit better - "only" 26 degrees and some clouds. Keep your fingers crossed for us🤞🏻✌🏻
