Singapore extreme

Wow, it's so hot here. The sun is scorching, humidity is still at 85%, and not even a breeze. And here we are, walking around on foot, looking for an Asian soup kitchen for breakfast. Asians sure eat some weird things. Chicken feet cooked or grilled, duck heads, black eggs... very unusual for us Europeans. Finally, we found one. Noodle soup with rice dumplings filled with minced pork. It actually tasted good. And a cup of jasmine tea to go with it.

With our bellies full, we went on the 'Hop on - hop off' tour.

Here are some facts about Singapore:

A democratic city-state with a population of 5.5 million, of which 76% are Chinese, 8% Indian, 14% Malay, and the rest are others. All religious groups live peacefully side by side. The mosque is right next to the Hindu temple and the church. One big problem is the 1.2 million guest workers. Singapore is one of the richest countries in the world with the highest cost of living.

In Singapore, you can't bring in duty-free cigarettes, not even an opened pack with more than 17 cigarettes, or chewing gum. It's forbidden to spit, eat, and drink in public. Smoking is generally prohibited (except at home). The same goes for littering. In addition to fines, penalties for violations include caning, imprisonment, and the death penalty for drug trafficking or smuggling. Singapore has 2 casinos that generate 6 billion in revenue, which is only 1 billion less than Las Vegas with its 50 casinos.

I hate to repeat myself, but Singapore is really amazing. Super clean everywhere, lots of greenery (they even put planters in front of construction fences every few meters), many small decorative elements like statues and water features. Here, you can really see the attention to detail.

Construction is happening on every corner, and each construction site is surrounded by soundproof and sight-blocking walls several meters high (and I'm not talking about 2 or 3 meters, more like 10-15 meters).

Singapore is a shopper's paradise. Shopping malls are everywhere in the city.

Singapore is definitely worth a visit.
