9 Welcome to Budapest

Çap edildi: 24.03.2023

After a whole 9-hour train journey, which went by surprisingly quickly but could have gone wrong (I suddenly had to change trains even though I had a direct connection.. I really don't understand it...), I finally arrived. I was warmly welcomed by Ghaya, who I had already met in Prague. After the exhausting day, we ordered Langos and watched the new Mr. Bean movie from the sofa.

The next day, I made plans to meet Mohammed (studying Electrical Engineering in Deggendorf) for 'breakfast'. Although his vacation was already over, he gave me many tips on what I could visit.
Later, Nico, a future police officer from Germany, joined us and the two of us explored the city together. It was really nice to be able to speak German with him again.

We strolled past the Parliament and the Margaret Island in the middle of the Danube, which must be really beautiful in the summer.

Then we decided to take Mohammed's advice and walk to the Statue of Liberty, which was funny because it was originally intended to be a victory column by the Nazis but was repurposed after the lost war.

From up there, we had a wonderful view of the city. We stayed there until it was completely dark, took photos and didn't stop chatting.

To round off the evening, we went to a vegan restaurant and I had a kind of goulash soup, which according to Nico didn't taste like goulash, but I still liked it.

I must say that I really enjoy getting to know people and doing things with them while traveling, which I would never think of doing in Germany. I found it especially interesting with Nico, what kind of travel he liked (the ones that could go wrong, like in Lebanon) and how emotionally detached he could be when talking about his job.
Back at Ghaya's place, we were still considering whether we should go out, but while searching in the hangouts, we got tired and postponed it to the next day.
