By train heading south, 35 km. We were greeted by a dream bay in the old town.
Small manageable town built high on the rock. Our accommodation right in the Centro Historico in a narrow house with a rooftop terrace where breakfast is served by the owner, Maria.
Long hike to San Vito to an old Benedictine Abbey along the turquoise sea.
In the afternoon, take the train through endless olive groves until a town appears on a hill: Ostuni, 'citta bianca'. Always uphill to the Cathedral of Santa Maria. All houses are white. All in all very pretty, Italian, and touristy (a few Americans, otherwise Italians).
Ending a beautiful day on the piazza with olives, nuts, Aperol Spritz, and a beer. A quick look from the high cliffs into the night sea and very tired into bed.
