Alligator Gorge and Port Augusta

Çap edildi: 30.03.2019

When we wake up, it is unexpectedly clear outside. So we set off for Mount Remarkable. However, the closer we get, the thicker the cloud cover becomes. Eventually, we give up on our plan to climb the summit. Instead, we continue to Alligator Gorge. Along the way, we have the opportunity to observe some emus in peace for the first time. Alligator Gorge is also part of Mount Remarkable National Park. The approach is quite bumpy, but after 20 minutes it's over. The gorge is not as spectacular as we had hoped. The sunlight is also missing for the intense coloring of the rock walls and rocks. But it is still a nice stopover.

We then continue to Port Augusta at the "root" of the Eyre Peninsula. By the time we arrive there, the sun has prevailed and we enjoy the warm rays during a walk through the city center. It is very very quiet here. Too quiet. Boring. Not so bad, because we have time to observe the sunset from our unusual parking space. It is located in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of a military training area. But it has a real Outback vibe. Although the area here reminds more of the Arizona desert than Australia. Hopefully they won't start shooting tonight!
