The Diekmoor allotment association is located in the Langenhorn district of Hamburg between Foortkamp and Neuberger Weg. Neuberger Weg? That's where Helmut Schmitd lived.
That's right, but also Lieselotte Thiele for much longer than the former Chancellor.
In the late 1950s, she moves from her parents' farm in Büchen to Hamburg and takes a job at Kliikum Ochsenzoll. It's hard to find an affordable apartment in the largely destroyed city. So she takes over a makeshift home in the allotment association, which a bricklayer has built in his spare time. The makeshift home becomes her life. She raises two children here, largely on her own.
In the early 1990s, Martin Dehnert moves in with her. He returned to Hamburg after the death of his wife Eva-Marie Dehnert. The two of them were together for 20 years. Lotti says it was the best time of her life.
Martin passed away in 2014. She is alone again and life is becoming increasingly difficult, especially as her health deteriorates. The house is also old and becoming more and more dilapidated.
Now the time has come. On November 1, 2017, she moves to Langenhorn Markt. The last permanent resident of the allotment association is leaving the community.
All the best.
