24 hours Sydney

Çap edildi: 24.03.2019

Phew, crazy, what you can experience in 24 hours! 😲

After my nap and a wonderful shower yesterday, I set off to make up for the missed rugby match. And I was successful! The Crusaders from Christchurch (currently considering changing their name after the attack..) were guests at the Waratahs and were well beaten after a moving minute of silence (a completely silent stadium has something special). There wasn't much happening with the best team of the last few weeks (their first loss in 19 games), so they lost to the Sydney team with a score of 20:12. The atmosphere was okay, but it cannot be compared to ice hockey in the CFS 😉

Then I actually went to the biggest club in the city and just watching was worth the entrance fee. It's not really my crowd in there, but it's great to watch and the pool area in the middle of Sydney is pretty cool. After a girl barely missed me with her food cough, I left. Apparently it was okay for her, 5 minutes later she and her boyfriend were busy kissing...yummy!

Then I went back to the bay and enjoyed the tranquility. A quick snack and then off to bed, we're not here for fun! 🤔

This morning the plan was clear, as it is supposed to rain along the entire east coast indefinitely from tomorrow onwards (hopefully I'll have some luck with surfing, snorkeling and sailing), I took the ferry to the zoo. It is located on the other side of the city on a hill. You ride up to the entrance with a cable car and stroll comfortably downhill to the exit and the ferry. And the view from the top is amazing!

In the zoo, you mainly find animals from Australia and Oceania that you wouldn't see in our country, such as platypus (barely visible in the photo), sleeping wombats, echidnas, sugar gliders, wallabies, emus, koalas, and of course lots of kangaroos. The snake is an inland taipan, the most venomous snake in the world. Makes you really want to go camping... 😂

Back in the CBD, I had something to eat and resisted the temptation of the ice cream for 4.50 (euros, not dollars). Today was crazy busy, firstly because it's Sunday (I think all Sydneysiders went out to Manly, judging by the queue at the ferry), secondly, the weather was perfect, thirdly, it's Sydney after all, and fourthly, today apparently is Greek National Day, which is celebrated at the Opera House.

Now I am exhausted after covering so many kilometers in the last 24 hours.

Overall, I really like Sydney with its location and atmosphere, but what's really striking are the many homeless people and beggars, some of whom are from my generation. Someone is sitting every 20 meters...my resolution doesn't get me far.

Oh well, everything has two sides, right?

Now I'm going to take a cold shower and then we'll see...

Atemberaubend, man go gar nicht, dass das alles an einem Tag war!
