On Mondays, I left Thessaloniki early in order to avoid the rush hour traffic. After a decent climb with a great view over Thessaloniki, I descended just as steeply to Liti. After a few kilometers on the main road, I took a very quiet country road that gradually sloped down along Lake Korona and then Lake Volvi. And all of this with a tailwind, making it an ideal stage to forget about the last three rather mediocre rides! I arrived in Ofrynio around 4 p.m., with plenty of time for a proper snack. A local in the restaurant asked me about my journey and insisted on having a Tsipouro with me. Then it was time to set up my tent on the beach, this time right next to the campground fence. It got so windy at night on the beach that I had to re-secure my outer tent several times. Sand is just not ideal for anchoring pegs in!
