Helsinki

Helsinki also has many beautiful spots, sights, and shopping opportunities 😉.

The children have put together a city tour and selected many interesting places.

  1. Rock Church (Helsinki is built on rock)
  2. National Museum (currently unfortunately a large construction site)
  3. Parliament Building (flowers help against too many tourists in photos)
  4. Library (great building and super concept, everything can be reserved, sewing machines, 3D printers, PlayStations, conference rooms, entire music studios with equipment, learning bubbles, and there are even books!)
  5. Moomin Shop (a must-visit in Finland, successful shopping)
  6. Uspenski Cathedral (also scaffolding, but only on one side 😅, unfortunately closed)
  7. Seat of the Finnish President (very unremarkable at a busy intersection)
  8. Harbor
  9. Old Market Hall (very tasty lunch snack 😋)
  10. Esplanadi Park (really, there's a pooping seagull on every statue here)
  11. Helsinki Cathedral (unfortunately a large part is covered and scaffolded)
  12. Johannes Church (without scaffolding)
  13. Flea Market (unfortunately, nothing matched the opening hours listed online, there was no one there today)

After this great tour, with super information and perfectly planned route with public transport (and still over 17,000 steps 😅), we wanted something special to eat today. So we drove across the city to the old slaughterhouse. Nowadays, it is home to a colorful mix of bars and restaurants. At special request, it was to be vegetarian today, and we hit the jackpot! At HuuHaa, we ate exceptionally delicious and even at Finnish prices, it was affordable.

Helsinki is definitely more of a metropolis again, more tourists, more entrance fees for churches, but above all, it is also very friendly. The Finns are extremely nice and helpful. And public transport works excellently!
