In the northeast of Da Nang lies the Son Tra Peninsula, which is known not only for its hilly landscape and population of rare monkey species, but also for the Linh Ung Pagoda. In addition to the beautiful buildings, the approximately 70-meter-high Lady Buddha statue creates an impressive backdrop. It can be seen from far away, standing out from the landscape. This attraction not only attracted me, but Son Tra is also a popular destination for Da Nang tourists. I originally wanted to explore the island and the 693-meter-high Monkey Mountain with my motorbike, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate. But I still have a few days here, so I will definitely give it another try, as the winding and well-developed coastal road is highly recommended for a trip.
Yesterday, I visited one of the most beautiful cities in Vietnam. It's no wonder that the old town of Hoi An is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Together with my roommate Angela, who is originally from Connecticut and has been living in Shanghai for some time, I headed south. The weather was perfect for this excursion. When we arrived in Hoi An, we walked through the world-famous streets with their colorful lanterns. However, I had imagined the city to be a bit larger. In two to three hours, we had already seen everything. In the afternoon, we returned to our hostel with beautiful photos and a slight sunburn, and in the evening, we enjoyed a Korean barbecue before the fire- and water-spouting dragon heads of the Dragon Bridge captivated the visitors.
