Dublin Zoo (25.09.2016)

Sundays are perfect for a visit to the zoo. The zoo is located in Phoenix Park, the largest park in the world located in the middle of a city. We had typical Irish weather - when I started around noon, it was sunny, but when I met Susan at the park, it started pouring rain. So we went to a cafe in front of the zoo to wait for the rain to stop. Just as we ordered our watery cocoa, the rain stopped - typical Ireland.
Usually, we always say that we're students when we enter, but this time they wanted to see a student ID at the ticket counter. So I just showed my Jungbauern membership card since everything is in German and they can't read it. The employee looked at me weirdly, but after I told him it's an Austrian university, he accepted it. It's a pretty cool university, I must say, it's a lot of fun to study there.

Of course, it wouldn't be Irish weather if we had sunshine for the rest of the day. We saw some animals already when it started raining again, and luckily we were near the sealions, so we took shelter there and waited for the rain to stop. Unfortunately, it started raining again soon, and we waited out the worst rain by the giraffes or zebras. Then we remembered that we still had our sexy raincoats from the bus tour and put them on. Normally, the giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and ostriches all live together in the savannah, but when it rains, they're all in their houses. Unfortunately, because of that, we didn't see the ostriches at all because we couldn't visit their house. But the zebras and giraffes were cool, I don't know which one I liked more :)

Afterwards, we continued to the hippo house, the hippo was quite a funny character, it was constantly underwater and only lifted its head for a few seconds, but always in the same spot.

There were also plenty of monkeys, there were some really small monkeys that were cool, their babies were quite active, two of them were arguing about something and a baby monkey was running around completely crazy, sometimes right through the two arguing monkeys. A few times it even jumped against the glass, the first time it did that, I was really startled and, as you know, I screamed pretty loudly.

Towards the end, we had to hurry because it was almost 6 o'clock, but we hadn't seen the reptiles yet, and they're not that cool anyway. Unfortunately, the elephant house was closed because they're either making a baby or just had one.
Anyway, it was a really cool day.
