After 3 weeks in Bielefeld, we're finally moving on! We enjoyed our time with our families and friends, added a few things to the Sprinter, and got the new inspection. But now we're looking forward to our next leg of the journey!
As always, we're leaving a little late, and our first destination is Rastatt. I used to work there for the past few years, so I'm spontaneously stopping by to visit my former colleague Tanja. Her daughter is having a birthday party that day, so we don't have much time and the reunion is too short. But it's so so so nice that we could meet up at all!
Next, we're heading to Ottersweier to visit my former colleague and dear friend Kathi and her boyfriend Philipp. And new to the group is the little Labrador Milo. Milo is almost 6 months old. Fiete and him get along right away! It's incredible how much calmer Milo is already compared to Fiete, who will be 2 soon. We spend 1 1/2 wonderful days together. On Friday evening, my former colleague Kai also joins us for pizza and it feels like I've never left - so nice! Kathi and Philipp show us a new game called Cabo. It's definitely on our wish list. Let's see if we can find it somewhere on the way and, above all, if we can find people to play it with us. Jannis doesn't like playing it alone with me.
On Sunday, we continue to Offenburg. The sun shines perfectly on the vineyards and I actually have to hold back a few tears. Oh Offenburg... I've kind of lost my heart to the area and even Jannis is a bit nostalgic. We spend a wonderful afternoon and evening with friends and then revisit our old hood the next day. Fiete immediately knows where we are and rushes around his meadow. So beautiful - we've missed the vineyards so much! Luckily, the weather isn't so great on the 2nd day - making it easier for us to move on.
We zip over to France to Alsace, where Jannis' parents are already camping in Riquewihr. The two of them are on vacation for the autumn holidays. Jannis' sister and her friend Meli also join us. We spend a few lovely days together before Jannis and I drive on to a friend's wedding on Saturday. By the way, Alsace is just beautiful! Small, cute towns and so much delicious wine! Gorgeous!
Jannis' family takes care of Fiete during the wedding, and we park our home on 4 wheels right near the wedding location - so we can simply fall into bed at night, practical!
It's such a beautiful autumn day, such a beautiful venue, and after all the Corona mess, we finally celebrate extensively again! And on top of that, with former colleagues and friends from Offenburg. We enjoyed it very much! Huge thanks to the beautiful bride and groom, Luisa & Tim!
The next day, we drive back to Riquewihr to pick up Fiete and spend another night at Jannis' parents' campsite.
And then it's time to say goodbye.
Now we're really getting back on the road again!
