18.03.2023 husky project

This was probably the most challenging day so far. Early morning snow shoveling until breakfast followed by more snow shoveling and feeding the dogs.

The guests were very kind and actually helped a lot with moving all the snow away. We didn't clear the street because the snow plow would come by later and clear the entryway which was filled with powder snow.

The snow plow will be our salvation.

But that still left all the dog kenels. We also weren't allowed to let multiple dogs out because many of the lady dogs are in heat right now, while the male dogs are ready to fight each other over who gets the ladies.

To save some time we wanted to let a few dogs out and take some other dogs on a walk.

I went on a walk with buick and vincent.

That was a mistake.

This is quite different from a puppy walk. These dogs are sled dogs that have trained the entire season and pull sleds on a daily basis. Also because of the heavy snowfall there weren't really any trails left to walk.

So I was running through deep snow, trying to keep up with the dogs. While they kept turning around and looking at me why I was so slow.

By the time I got back the snow plow had finally cleared the entry way. However he had missed a huge part of the street for some reason. So we still had to move a whole bunch of snow away.

The snow plow had forsaken us.

Then we did the puppy walk and marlene had the lovely idea to walk through the forest. Which was a very nice scenery. But it also had very very deep snow, in which we and the dogs regularly disappeared.

Everytime you got up on both legs the dogs would pull you forward and you would fall into deep snow again. It was still very funny fighting through the snow and also very exhausting.

I could feel just how my arms and legs got heavier with every step.

I also never ate so much during breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was just eating what I could before I had to go outside and fight the snow again.

It was a good day.
