After another restful night, I already feel much better. After checking out of my small, fine apartment, I take the bus back to Hvar. On the way, I book a hostel that makes a good impression on me. When I arrive there, I am greeted with a refreshing drink and an ice cream. :-)
Later on, I go to Pokonji Dol Beach with Phil and Ryan, two Australians, which we reach from the hostel in a 15-minute walk over the hill. Pokonji Dol is the name of the island that can be seen from there. The water there is crystal clear and beautiful. Swimming there is also fun because you can see many different fish.
After swimming, we sit on a rock in the sun. This rock is about 4 meters above the water. We think for a long time whether we could jump from here because the ground looks deep enough. Of course, as a lifeguard, I know that jumping into unknown waters is not allowed according to bathing rule no. x. But when 3 people jump in headfirst within half an hour, we are tempted. At least Ryan and I. I still need some courage, but eventually I jump! And because it was so much fun, I jump 3 times :) Ryan cannot overcome his inner weakness, even after I jumped. He doesn't want to get wet again because it takes so long to dry ... what an excuse .... :-P
On the way back, we take the longer but more beautiful route along the coast. Since the sun is slowly setting, now would probably be the best time to walk to Fortica (the fortress in Hvar). However, Ryan and Phil go back to the hostel. Since I'm pretty hungry, I grab a Burek on the way that I can eat up there. The path is challenging, especially because I'm not 100% fit yet, but the view is worth it! The entrance to the fortress, where you might have an even better view, costs 40 Kuna admission, maybe I'll save that for another time, I'll be here for a while.
