Good morning!
My alarm just went off and it's 6 o'clock in the morning! Today we're going to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand. What awaits me? - No idea.
The journey took about 4 hours. During that time, we made a stop at New Zealand's oldest tree, the 'Kauri tree'. Then we went to a small campground where we got Fish'n'Chips. They weren't particularly good, and it was only half past eleven, not the best time for lunch.
Finally, we arrived at Cape Reinga. On both sides of the road, you could see the ocean because the road was so narrow. That alone was amazing. From the parking lot, we walked for about 20 minutes, and there we were: at the northernmost point of New Zealand. The point where the Indian Ocean meets the Pacific Ocean. And it looked beautiful.
On the way back, we stopped at '90 mile beach'. All you could see was the beach and the sea, and it was kilometers long!
The last item on the itinerary was sandboarding. Sounds cool at first, and when we saw the hill we were supposed to slide down, it looked really cool too. But I have to disappoint you, the sliding was really slow and not much fun. It was a real shame because I was really looking forward to it.
After a 12-hour day tour like this, you're glad to be back at the hostel. We're just going to quickly grab something to eat and then go to sleep.
