Day 3: Arrival on Koh Phangan

ప్రచురించబడింది: 10.01.2018

We set our alarm for 05:00 in the morning because today we were going to fly to Koh Samui and then continue to Koh Phangan by ferry. Our night was already pretty short for various reasons: First, the air conditioner started making clicking noises. After turning it off, it became unbearably hot, then water started leaking and splashing on the floor. Later, two cats outside started hissing at each other, and to top it all off, we could hear loud conversations coming from a neighboring room. When it was about 04:00, we turned the air conditioner back on and finally fell asleep...until the alarm clock rang an hour later. There was another storm going on outside.

After checking out, the taxi took us to the airport, from where we flew to Koh Samui. We wanted to take a nap right away to make up for the lack of sleep. However, there were some intense turbulence at the beginning of the flight. Luckily, they ended quickly - but then we were also wide awake.

Upon arrival at the airport, we were able to buy tickets directly for the ferry to Koh Phangan and were taken to the pier by a minibus.

Once we arrived there, we only had to wait a few minutes until the ferry departed.

Meanwhile, Christian met someone from California. They had a fascinating conversation about football and whatever else. In the meantime, I took a look around the pier. Eventually, we were all allowed to walk along the long gangway to the ferry. We marched along the meter-long path with our bags until we were almost next in line to board the ferry, when Christian suddenly asked me where his backpack was. Not his carry-on backpack - his 70-liter backpack with all his belongings. Amidst all the chatting, he had forgotten to put it back on when we started. Luckily, it wasn't too late and he was able to retrieve it in time. I waited for him with a shake of my head. But when he arrived, we both laughed...just the thought of how we would have arrived on Koh Phangan without him.

The crossing took about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the pier, we were picked up by Christian's friend, who will be staying on Koh Phangan for three weeks, and taken to the hotel.

We chose the SeaEsta Beach. It's not far from Thong Sala, right by the sea, and very peaceful. The first impression was really positive. Each person has their own little cottage. And the path leads directly to the beach. After checking in, we decided to relax there. The sea has a gentle slope and is very warm. Unfortunately, it didn't last an hour before rain clouds started to gather again, so we had to end our beach visit.

In the evening, we found a nice restaurant on the street and enjoyed delicious Thai food. Then we ended the evening on the beach in the bean bags at the hotel.
