On Saturday, our journey continued inland to Camping Korana, near the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The drive took over 6 hours and the closer we got to our destination, the colder it unfortunately became.
Upon arrival at the campsite, it was only a chilly 15 degrees. The 15 degree temperature difference affected my mood a bit 😬😅
The campsite is located on a green, hilly terrain, which made it a bit difficult to find a level spot for our camper. Our refrigerator is a bit delicate. As soon as it is slightly tilted, it stops cooling. After several rounds around the site, a spot was found. With the last remaining gas, we managed to cook something. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find gas bottles for camping stoves in Croatia, so these were probably the last noodles for this vacation.😔 We had two bottles left, but Fabian left them at home as a precaution! 😉
After a cool night, the short bus ride to the Plitvice Lakes started the next morning.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is an almost 300 km² forest reserve in the center of Croatia.
The national park consists of 16 lakes that are interconnected by waterfalls and extend into a limestone gorge. In the national park, there are various routes that can be explored on foot, by ferry, or by bus. The waterfalls and lakes were very impressive, but unfortunately it was also very touristy and we had to constantly overtake the Japanese tour groups on the walkways. 📸
Unfortunately, there was a live concert in the neighboring village this weekend and the music was playing very loudly and jolting until 2 am. Now Fabian, who otherwise showed endless patience, was also a bit annoyed. 😅 This night passed too and this morning we set off again to the warm sea. ☺️🏝️😍
After one last relaxing day at the beach in Njivice, we headed back to Switzerland on Wednesday. 🇨🇭😀
