Arvika - Gothenburg, Stage 5 + 6 and Conclusion

ప్రచురించబడింది: 08.08.2021

Well dried and in good spirits, we continued from Vargön towards Trollhättan. On the way to the city, we passed the former Saab factory, which used to offer trips from Rüsselsheim. Trollhättan is located on the Göta/Trollhättan Canal, which connects the Skagerrak and the Baltic Sea via the two large Swedish lakes. The city has a variety of historical and modern locks, including 7 locks that were navigated about 100 years ago, each with 3 and 4 locks in a row. We took the time to visit and also saw the basin of the large rapid, which is currently empty due to Corona. 🤪 (The water inflow is regulated)

To leave the city, we continued with a nasty long climb, and it was initially hillier than expected. In the late afternoon, Hanna had a problem with the gear shift, so we looked for accommodation and ended up at the hotel at the highway rest stop, right by the river.

Vargön - Lilla Edet

43 km, 304 m uphill

Unfortunately, despite research and instructions, we were unable to operate the gear shift again, so Hanna rode the last stage with only one gear - just like our parents and grandparents used to. It has its own charm when you have to roll along at a speed of 21 km/h, and fortunately, there were not many and not too strong or long climbs to overcome. So we arrived in Gothenburg in the afternoon - and thus, we have completed our tour!

Lilla Edet - Gothenburg

60 km, 295 m uphill

On Saturday and Sunday, we visited Gothenburg, took a spontaneous ride on a steam train, and also met a friend of Hanna's on Saturday evening. A beautiful and interesting city!

Now we are about to board the ferry to Kiel and return to Germany by train.

Thank you for your attention, for cheering us on, for your comments and encouragement!

Best regards from Gert and Hanna

Total: over 3,200 km distance and approximately 19.2 km uphill

Danke für alles persönliches und digitales Feedback (Und dieser Kommentar ist gleichzeitig ein Test, ob das noch funktioniert 😉)
