6th-8th day - First days in Waitata

ప్రచురించబడింది: 08.11.2017

We have settled in well in Waitata Bay and discover new wonderful things every day. Working with Texas, Mocca & Guiseppe, as well as with the Chickens, is a lot of fun and slowly but surely a certain routine is settling in: collecting eggs, feeding, mucking out... donkey poop, fresh hay, etc.

Now we are also seeing the downside of the diverse vegetation for the first time: everything is growing and sprouting happily. If you don't fight against it, everything would quickly become overgrown and you couldn't grow anything.

That's why we spent two days with the trimmer and destroyed weeds -> quite exhausting, especially when the sun shines mercilessly.

After finishing our work every day between 2 and 3 o'clock, we still have plenty of time to explore the area. On Monday we enjoyed the sun at Long Beach (unfortunately the water is still not warm enough ;) and on Tuesday we were in the neighboring village at the Tapeka Track (with a view of the Bay of Islands).

On Wednesday we really got to know the weather: After our accommodation almost took off during a storm at night, we prepared ourselves for a rainy day of work. And we were right to do so :) :

Heavy rain, followed by sunshine, followed by rain again... nothing unusual in itself, but quite annoying because it immediately gets hot in the sun and it feels like being in a steam sauna under the rain jacket.

Our English is also getting better day by day and Catrina tells us many interesting things about life here :)
