Now it was over! We had to/wanted to go back home, to Berlin. Franziska had scheduled a half-day of home office so she could spend the last few hours with us. We packed our remaining things into the suitcases and tidied up here and there while she talked to her colleagues in the office next door. She came out between meetings to give us some final instructions and then disappeared back to her desk in her home office.
She arranged a shuttle to the airport for us. When it arrived, she let us know by phone and accompanied us to the car, giving the driver the necessary instructions. It felt like assisted travel for the elderly, but we gladly accepted it all. As we said our final goodbyes, I realized that after three days of visiting my parents, I used to be happy to go home. It was enough! With Franziska, it didn't feel the same. She was genuinely sad that her parents were leaving and she was being left alone! But we will come back, that thought reassured us. And besides, she will be back in Europe in April and will surely visit us in Berlin as well! Goodbye, daughter!!!
In terms of flights, this time everything went perfectly and our choice of seats was just right. So, all in all, the economy premium deal was worth it and will be our future for transatlantic travel! Even in Berlin, the suitcases arrived quickly, it was my first arrival at BER, and then onto the X-71 (airport bus). The travel parable came to a close!
