Our last days in Down under

ప్రచురించబడింది: 01.02.2017

After arriving back in Airlie Beach, we spent one more night at Nomands Caravan Park and met everyone from the sailing tour again at the after-show party. The next day, we drove 630 km to be in Cairns for Australia Day. One hour before Cairns, we stopped at a rest area where we stayed overnight. The next day started at 10 am when we met up with two guys from the sailing tour at Holiday Campingplatz. After a relaxing day, we dressed up in Australian attire and went out to the city to party at 4 pm.

Two days later, we had to say goodbye to Anton and Olga as they were flying to Asia earlier. Jil, Nati, and I then went to Cape tribulation in the rainforest with the guys from Crefeld on the same day. Here we met Fred, an old man who moved from Charlottenburg to Cape Trip about 40 years ago and occasionally hosts backpackers. Since there is extreme danger for crocodiles around the Daintreeriver, it is advisable not to stay here without locals. Fred has a huge property with direct access to the beach, where he fed us through his tropical fruits, such as coconuts, as self-caterers. After showing us some more insider tips where we could swim without any concerns, we drove back south in the evening. A last stop at a boat tour on the Daintree River allowed us to observe wild crocodiles as the final attraction.

Our last 3 days are now spent at the camping site in Cairns, as we don't have the opportunity to go to the Outback without a 4WD. Next time, I will already report from warm Thailand.

So, one last time, greetings from Australia 🇦🇺!
