Our next and final stop in Southeast Asia is Kuala Lumpur. With the VIP bus (extra wide seats with footrests that can be tilted extremely far back), the journey from Singapore usually takes 5-6 hours. Due to traffic jams and long waiting times at the border crossing, we arrived after 9 hours in the over-air-conditioned bus. The next day, we take the free Go-KL bus to the Butterfly Park. Here, there are many butterflies, but unfortunately, you can hardly see them. You can also look at insects of every disgusting kind in display cases (we are looking forward to these encounters in South America...). Afterwards, we continue to Chinatown, once again a tourist district where you can buy souvenirs & fake branded goods. The Kasutriwalk next door offers food for everyone. In the evening, we go to the MUD musical. A small play that shows the history of Kuala Lumpur.
Day 2 in the city is our last day in Southeast Asia: we start with a shopping trip through the malls. Every brand is represented in Pavilion, so if you like shopping, this is the place to be. In Bukit Bitang, there is even a small amusement park with a roller coaster through the shopping center, as well as a cinema & bowling alley. Next, we visit the main attraction of the city - the Petronas Twin Towers. From KLCC Park, you can have a great view of the towers, and aside from the heat, it's quite relaxing here. Of course, there is also a mall in the towers. If you want, you can take the bridge between the two towers. However, we prefer to invest this money in a drink at the Helipat Lounge. In the rooftop bar, we enjoy our last few hours with a 360-degree view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline. (The bar is open daily from 5pm, and from 6pm you can go to the rooftop observation deck; after 9pm, entry is only allowed in long pants).
