This weekend was a long weekend, as Tuesday was a public holiday due to the Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Cup is the biggest horse race in the world and very popular in Australia. This weekend, I went to my host family's beach house in the Mornington Peninsula for the first time, which was definitely worth it.

We started on Saturday morning around 10 o'clock. After a drive of about 1 hour, we arrived. I was really excited and curious about what awaited me there. When I saw the house, all my expectations were exceeded once again. The house has 2 floors, with the upper floor mainly used by the grandparents and the lower floor by the rest of Emily's family. When you enter the lower floor, you can see directly through the huge windows to the large pool and the beach and sea behind it. This view is truly breathtaking. There is also a large garden behind the pool, where you can often observe little bunnies grazing on the grass. The interior of the house also looks very beautiful. In my room, which is normally Emily's sister's room, I could look directly at the pool and the sea from my bed.

We didn't do much on Saturday. Stewart and Willi went to the beach and then to the pool, and Emily and I spent most of the time in the living room. In the evening, we went out for dinner. I had fish and chips and a crème brûlée for dessert, which was really delicious. When we got back home, Stewart fell asleep on the sofa at 8 o'clock and Emily put Willi and Grace to bed. Shortly after, the two of them went to sleep and I watched some TV in the living room.

The day started relatively early for me on Sunday because we went to the beach to watch the racehorses bathe. We even saw dolphins while we were at the beach. After being at the beach, we had breakfast at a small café and then drove back to the house. Once we arrived, Stewart and Willi were back in the pool and after testing the water and finding it comfortable, I also went in. The smaller pool is heated to about 38 degrees Celsius and the other one is heated only with solar power, so it was a bit colder. Willi was really cute in the water and we had a great time splashing around. We had sushi and sandwiches for lunch, and burgers for dinner. After putting Willi and Grace to bed, I went for a swim again. Then, I watched an episode of The Walking Dead with Emily and Stewart before going to bed.

I had to work starting at 9 o'clock on Monday. When I came out of my room, Stewart was already out fishing, and Emily and Willi were in the pool. I took over and spent half an hour alone with Willi in the pool. After that, Willi and I played with Lego while Grace was sleeping and Emily went shopping. We had quiche and salad for lunch, and after lunch, I had free time until 4 o'clock. When I started again, I prepared dinner for Grace and Willi because Emily and Stewart wanted to go out in the evening. After dinner, I bathed Grace and then painted with Willi. Emily and Stewart put Grace to bed and then left. Shortly after, I put Willi to bed and read him 2 stories. After that, I made my dinner and when Emily and Stewart came back home, we watched an episode of The Walking Dead, the first and last episode of my life.

Tuesday was the public holiday and I had the day off again. After sleeping in, I started to pack my things together and then had breakfast. On Tuesday, Emily and Stewart had visitors from Stewart's relatives, who also had 2 children. We had a small barbecue with lamb steak, sausages, and chicken wings for lunch, along with salad and baguette. The whole time, the Melbourne Cup horse races were on, and of course, we didn't want to miss out. After lunch, I took Grace and went for a little walk with the stroller. Grace was not in a good mood and kept crying, probably because she's getting a new tooth or catching a cold. Around 4 o'clock, we packed our things and drove back home. In the evening, I met up with Johanna and then went to sleep.
