27. Tag: Early in the morning we start our journey to the ferry to the island of Elafonisos. We start in the small village of Pounta. Loading the ferry is already an adventure. In the end, a 12-meter-long bus stands squeezed next to us, with only one centimeter of distance from our folded mirror😳 Birgit then has to cover her eyes and ears with excitement during unloading. As it had to happen: our mirror is pushed in with a loud squeak and crash. But in the end, it still works, only the built-in indicator has been completely "crushed".
After this excitement, we treat ourselves to some Greek pastries and cappuccino in a café at the harbor. The lovely employee tells us that the oldest city in Greece is supposed to lie underwater in front of us (CNN documentaries should exist about it). After a short walk on a tiny little island (St. Spiridon) we drive to Simos Beach, Greece's Caribbean. It really looks like paradise! However, the wind blows so heavily that you can only endure it permanently behind the lush juniper bushes in the dunes.
For the rest of the day, we relax on the beach. Only Max dares to go into the sea twice.
For the sunset, armed with our chairs and drinks, we climb up the hill and watch the sun set behind the western cape of Elafonisos from above.
