Mexico - Cenote Garden of Eden

ప్రచురించబడింది: 28.05.2018

After exploring the ruins in Tulum and spending some time at the beach, we took the Collectivo back to the hotel. But we weren't ready to go back to the hotel just yet, the day was far from over. Since I was so fascinated by cenotes, we decided to visit the Cenote 'Jardin del Eden' (which translates to 'Garden of Eden'), which was conveniently on our way.

Once we arrived, we paid 100 pesos per person and had to walk about 1 km through the jungle to reach the cenote. It was a pleasant walk in the shade and the path was easy to navigate. Finally, we caught a glimpse of the cenote. We weren't the only ones there, but it wasn't crowded either. So, it was still okay. The cenote was absolutely beautiful, as always! We took a little walk around and saw a few iguanas along the way.

Then, we cooled off in the refreshing cenote. The underwater world was once again fascinating. Not necessarily because of the fish, there were some, but nothing special. What amazed me was the play of light underwater, it was simply magnificent! Of course, there were also the fish that nibbled at our feet ;)

We spent about 2 hours in the cenote, then the feeling of hunger slowly led us back towards the hotel. We simply waited by the roadside for the next Collectivo to take us back to Playa del Carmen. Since the Collectivos don't go to the hotel zone in Playacar, where our hotel was located, we decided to walk from Playa del Carmen to the hotel. Next time, we'll take a taxi for that, because the walk was really long in the heat! We were relieved when we finally arrived at the hotel. First things first: cool down and satisfy our hunger :D
