Bilbao

Good evening everyone,

The time has actually come: I'm up to date with my posts and you'll get the pictures and impressions from me from the last two days. I spent these two days in Bilbao and I actually have to say that the second day in Bilbao made up for the impression I had on the first day.

I'll tell you why a little later. Before that, I'll take you on the journey on the first day:

I parked my vehicle(s) in a suburb directly at the train station and took the train to the main station. After an employee pointed out to me that my first desired station wasn't the best choice and that the people there were probably a bit "weird". I took the advice, but I have to be honest and say that this comment really dampened me and I couldn't walk through the streets without thinking about it.

When I arrived at the main train station, I walked through the streets in front of the station a little intimidated.

After about three corners on the main shopping street, my nerves calmed down a bit and I was able to get involved in the city a little more.

It's always pretty easy to tell that I'm in Spain because there's a Spanish flag the size of a small family house hanging here and there.

After walking through the main shopping streets, I made my way across the river and towards the old town, where the city's cathedral is located.

So far so good. The further I walked in this direction, the more unsafe I felt and heeded the train employee's warning and headed back towards the main station on the main tourist streets
and went back to my hotel room.

I spent the next day exclusively in bed in the constant rain. I watched films and put in a few hours to bring you up to speed.

Today, Sunday October 15th, I got up early, enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and then went back into town to look at the Guggenheim Museum and the surrounding parks.

Luckily it was Sunday and I was out relatively early. I'm very happy because traffic in Spain is sometimes a bit confusing and I found myself on the wrong side of the road when I turned left in the middle of an intersection. So much from our popular section: Britta never stops learning in traffic.

Does anyone here still see the crazy Roman from the Tex Avery Show?

I also saw a few Pikassos in the museum. And this statue inevitably reminded me of my childhood and gave me quite an earworm. For those who can't really place the caption - here is the link to the title of the series:

After these hours in the museum and through the green spaces in front of it, the city seemed a little brighter than it had 2 days before and since it was Sunday, there were a lot of families out and about, the shops were closed for shopping and there wasn't much going on on the streets. All of this led to me deciding to grab a coffee and stroll through the city again.

May I introduce: Mita

You can see a few pictures in the background. This was an exhibition entitled: Europe in Pictures. And a lot of these pictures were from cities that I have already visited on this trip. There I realized how many places and cities I have been to in the last 3 months and it filled me with pride and excitement. And also with a few new travel destinations.

And since a day can't end more beautifully than with a few vertical meters, I then went to the climbing/bouldering hall and gave it full throttle for 3 hours. Until I could literally only hold on to the last holds on the last climbing route with my will. It was a dream!

I hope you had such a fantastic Sunday too and if not, I advise you to plan something special for the next one. Something that you don't always treat yourself to and that makes you feel alive. Maybe you can send me a photo of it too - I would be happy about that.

Until then, I wish you all great dreams,
Your Britta
