Day 14: Quobba Point - Quobba Station

ప్రచురించబడింది: 01.10.2018

Last night we had a bit of 'wind walk'. Our Maui was shaking a bit in the strong sea breeze. But everyone slept well.

We put our camping furniture outside and have a hearty breakfast. Then it's off to the beach. We want to go snorkeling.

Since Papa Michi can't handle the refreshing water temperatures very well, I jump into the water first. Even in the bay, the current is strong, so we have to walk a bit first, then go into the water for drift snorkeling. We see a lot of fish, but unfortunately the reef is dead/gray. Samuel also wants to try snorkeling in the sea. After a short attempt, he decides to go to the beach instead. The kids are digging.

Today for lunch we have Kaiserschmarrn with cherry compote. That brings up feelings of home and everyone eats a lot.

In the afternoon we make our way to Quobba Station (about 10 km drive on an unpaved road). The camping site of the farm is spacious and very basic. There are a few campers there and we have to look for a free power outlet for our Maui (there is only electricity from the generator in the evenings and mornings). Unfortunately, we don't have a sea view today. It's hidden behind the dunes.

Michi plays Uno with the kids and then we go to the beach for sundowners. We are not alone today. There are whales in the water. For the first time we see more than just their tails and water spouts. Samuel is very excited and happy.

Since it's already late, we have to make dinner quickly tonight. After showering, we have macaroni and cheese with salad.

We experience a magnificent moonrise!
