Day 13 - Venice Beach & Santa Monica Pier

Hello everyone,

Today was another really nice day. A real day of 'vacation' so to speak :-) That means sleeping in late and then spending the day at the beach and just enjoying the day.

This morning we went to Venice Beach and rented bikes to bike along the famous bike path along the beach.

Our destination was Santa Monica Pier. We strolled around, took part in a really cool magic show (street magic), and in the end, had lunch at Forrest Gump - well, at Bubba Gump. The food was amazing, just like the day.

While eating, we had a great view (see gallery) of the beach, which is one of the cleanest I have ever seen. Beautiful white sand and everything is being smoothed out by workers little by little.

On the way back, we also checked out the shops on the promenade - or as it's called here, the Ocean Front Walk. Of course, we also made a detour to the world-famous skate park and Muscle Beach. But I kept my t-shirt on, so all those muscle guys wouldn't get jealous :-)

Afterwards, we started heading back towards the bike rental (well, okay, we had been here for over 5 hours already) and then towards the hotel.

We actually wanted to see the Hollywood Sign today, but we decided to postpone it until tomorrow because being in the sun all day made us a bit tired.

Tomorrow we will slowly start making our way back to San Francisco, where we will be flying back on Friday. We will also update you from our new - not yet completely known - intermediate destination.
