Vestkapp (B)
Early in the morning, Noa informed me that she had to work. So I went alone to the Senje Peninsula. First, I went to Vestkapp, Norway's westernmost point on the mainland (one of these "westernmost" points). After overcoming the road, which consisted only of potholes, and honking the sheep out of the way, I arrived at the summit, which was mainly marked by a meteorological sphere. It was super quiet up there and I was alone with the sheep, which had lambs - a reason why I didn't take a longer walk.
Ervik and Hovden (C)
After a short break, I went to Erviksand. I parked at the surfer's parking lot and walked across the sandy beach to Mount Hovden. At halfway up, there was a tunnel system. However, Noa had already warned me and so I had taken my big flashlight with me and saw a lot accordingly. In the tunnel, there were always turns into hollow passages, which were used as storage spaces or decorated with a skull, but everything ended in two exits. On the left, you had to climb a staircase and then you were at a house. From there you could observe a steep cliff. The second exit (right) led to the open sea. I climbed the whole mountain and on top I found a Kystfort, a facility from World War II.
This region is known for its fast weather changes and because of the many shipwrecks here, they want to build an underwater tunnel for ships.
After the hike, I spent some time at the beach, reading and watching the surfers riding the one to two meter high waves. The waves were crashing hard, but the water was crystal clear.
Hoddevik (D)
On the other side of the peninsula, I found the sandy beach of Hoddevik, which is also very popular with surfers. I drove down the serpentine roads, only to realize at the bottom that there was too much hustle and bustle in the parking lot and on the beach, so I turned around and drove back to Nordfjordeid, where we had a party in the evening for a volunteer who was going back home. Late in the evening, I drove to Volda with Malvine (volunteer in Volda) after checking the tire pressure.
