Crossing to the South Island

So today we took the ferry from Wellington to Picton. Be there an hour before departure at the latest and we just about made it. No problem with the navigation system, but the correct address must be set. Unfortunately the tour guide made a mistake here. The street from the restaurant last evening was very similar to the address for the ferry. But it was noticed relatively quickly and the change only took a minute with a 5 minute detour. The lecture from the travel companion about careful preparation, especially if you want to take the ferry at 1 p.m., lasted until the port.

Anyway, we were there at 11:58 a.m. and with the scan code we were able to drive through straight away and there were a lot of cars coming after us. On the high seas, the travel companion then sought out a secluded corner, as boat trips on the open sea are not that popular. But here too, good preparation and some kind of straps around the wrists helped. I think it was because of the very calm sea that prevailed during our crossing. What was astonishing was the storm of guests on the ship's canteen. We were still in the harbor when people were already eating there as if there was nothing on the South Island. Of course, the two German bargain hunters didn't go to the canteen, although the travel companion preferred to travel on a completely empty stomach. Lots of tourists on board and there were also interesting shoes from 1001 Nights to admire.

After 3.5 hours and without incident we arrived in Picton on the South Island. Still great weather and only 15 minutes to the new accommodation with lots of space and good facilities. And so there was delicious grilled food in the evening.
