Whitsunday Island

Another 300 kilometers and we were in Airlie Beach. This is where everyone who wants to go to the Whitsundays ends up. It's a small town right by the sea with a promenade and a lagoon for swimming.

We decided on a recommendation for a tour with the sail catamaran 'Wings'. We were on the boat for two days and two nights. It started at 1pm and we got to know the crew and our fellow sailors. There were a total of 31 people on board. The cabins were quite tight, but everyone had their own space. There was a common room where we could also eat and sunbathe on the deck.

At the beginning it was quite rocky due to the wind. In the afternoon we went snorkeling. The visibility was quite limited due to the wind and the stirred up water. Nevertheless, we saw a turtle 🎉.

In the evenings, we had delicious food and planned for the next day. We had to get up at 6:30am. There was coffee and tea, and then fruit, toast, and cereal. After being energized, we went to the island and were allowed to stay on the beach for 2.5 hours. It was incredibly beautiful and looked exactly like the photos on Google or the postcards you can buy. Then we went to a viewpoint. Everyone was quite hungry and we returned to the boat.

In the afternoon, we went snorkeling twice more and saw huge fish. After a less rocky night, the next morning we were already up at 6:30am. After breakfast, we went straight into the water for snorkeling, as we didn't have much time. I even got to swim with a turtle.

It was an incredible experience and we can only recommend it to everyone!!!
