On Monday morning, after 12 hours on the bus, I reached Vientiane, the capital of Laos 🫨
I spent today sightseeing. First I went to the Mekong to walk along it a bit. Unfortunately it was rather unspectacular, as you can only get within about 80m of the river. Apart from a few beautiful butterflies, there was nothing to see. 🦋
This was followed by the usual “good for the thighs” walking tour for capital cities.
The first photo stop was the Patuxai, a monument.
The next stop was the Cope Visitor Centre, a museum run by a non-profit organisation that helps people with mobility-related disabilities. Some of them are victims of US wartime bombs and unexploded bombs...
Since it was only shortly after 11 a.m., I went to the National Museum of Lao. Then I continued on foot for 7 kilometers through the local metropolis.
Passing countless temples, I was able to satisfy my need for these 😜
The visit to this museum was, let's call it "OK". Certainly more interesting for local tourists than for foreigners.
It is interesting that Laos is a former French colony. No wonder French is spoken everywhere here 😜
I'm ending today with happy hour at the local Hard Rock Café. @hardrockcafe
0.63€ for a 0.33l beer is a very pleasant thing 😋🤭
The day after tomorrow I'll continue by bus for 7 hours to Luang Prabang, in northern Laos where I'll be on a discovery tour until July 15th 😏🫦🫠
In this sense:
Lift your hair, have the honor 😉🫡
