Today took twists and turns without end.
From a 4-hour delay for the connecting flight in Singapore, waiting without coffee and sleeping on the floor, to the taxi ride through a city of nine million people where everything flashes, rattles and lights up. From arriving in, let's say, rather poor accommodation, to shopping for toilet paper for the first time for just 1.20 cents. A real bargain, and then also 8 rolls of 3 layers ;) Flying over the Mekong Delta, marveling at kilometers of rivers and then comes this city, the city that looks like it was built out of Lego and smells like there are at least three little underground rats in the sewers drowned.
Well, exciting to no end, but by far the most exciting and frightening thing happened where we thought we were safe.
Our home".
After we tried to cheer each other up while strolling in the evening, because we only now realized that we were really staying here for five months and were on our own, we came back, drank a soda and, unsuspecting, I wanted to take a shower.
Because at the Way, it's around 700 degrees Celsius here.
Well, I was denied that. A four centimeter cockroach was looking at me. I don't mean to offend anyone and I apologize to the people who really like these animals, but god was that cockroach ugly.
I jumped, slammed the door shut, grabbed a shoe, slammed the door open again and she was gone. Laura, also a bit upset, wanted to know what was going on and calm me down. Then the next one came speeding in front of her feet.
The end of the story, unfortunately we had to get rid of one in an unpleasant way, but the other one kept appearing in the bathroom and we couldn't get it. The beast hides behind and under the toilet.
So now we go to bed with the worrying thought that we'll get up tomorrow and won't be able to enter the bathroom because there will be more there and they'll surely be plotting their revenge.
Phew, unfortunately we really have a bit of jitters. The layout of the apartment is great, but there are cobwebs everywhere, strange animals or dirt on the walls (we couldn't quite decipher it) and well, apparently we also have cockroaches.
Well, Laura is currently spraying a circle of bug spray around our bed and I'm trying to find peace with the cockroaches.
