Today was too much for Fiona.

Our group has grown so much during these 2 days. We are now 7 people. Everyone is concerned about me and Fiona as we sleep outside. That's why yesterday I told everyone at dinner that I will go alone from now on. There were tears and we agreed to at least start together in the morning. So I had a wonderful night by the river. Learcio kindly gave me his warm sleeping bag and I realized that I can't handle the whole way with my thin sleeping bag. The nights are pretty cold. So we started again early at 7 am. I feel fit and Fiona is pushing me, so I arrived in Pamplona with the strongest members of the group. I found a store where I bought a super sleeping bag and I immediately sewed a small one for Fiona out of the old sleeping bag. From 20 km it will be hot in Pamplona. Fiona needed more and more breaks. She started limping slightly and one ear seems to hurt her. So I bought ear drops and we left the city in the heat. Fiona was getting worse and worse. The last 2 km were too much for her. It's possible that she had heat exhaustion in addition to exhaustion. At this point, I was glad to have support from 3 members of our group. They cheered on Fiona, offered her water repeatedly, showed her the way, and walked ahead. When we arrived, Fiona needed an hour to breathe normally again. Her paw pads are swollen but fortunately not burst. I keep rubbing olive oil on them to keep them supple. Tonight I will sleep with Irina (CZ) in the shelter of a church. We saved the cardboard boxes intact. So our bed looks even more dramatic in this atmosphere ;) And we don't sleep alone. When we wanted to go to sleep, a beggar came and told us that he is also sleeping here tonight. And he sleeps like a vampire in a big stone box and closes it with cardboard. Hopefully we will still be alive tomorrow...

Tomorrow we will see if Fiona is feeling somewhat better. We hope to reach Puente la Raina tomorrow (about 20 km), at a snail's pace or we stay where Fiona tells me to. Irina wants to go with me. She is the only one who also prefers wilderness and donativos as a place to sleep. And we both have the same pace. If Fiona refuses, I will go alone. We will leave at 6 am and see. Unfortunately, there is a small incline tomorrow. New day, new luck. Good night.
