Thailand rocks

Hi guys,

Soon we will have completed 12 months of traveling, but before heading home, we decided to spend a few weeks vacationing in Thailand. We entered Thailand by land through a nearby border crossing in Dawei, Myanmar. After a long and exciting journey with interesting but also crazy people, we arrived in the bustling metropolis of Bangkok on 11.04.2017. Upon arrival, we were overwhelmed by all the attractions, whether it was supermarkets, the normal traffic on the streets, or simply wanting to go out to eat. Nevertheless, Bangkok is an incredibly exciting city. We visited the royal palace of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The colorful and magnificent temples or halls and the beautifully decorated paintings impressed us a lot. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay in the sun for long because the heat and high temperatures were unbearable. However, we had fun cooling off in the following days. In Southeast Asia, New Year's Eve is celebrated from 13.04 to 17.04 due to a different calendar system. The celebration looks like this: streets are closed and buckets of ice water are provided to refill water guns. Without a water gun, you will be mercilessly sprayed with water. We celebrated the afternoon with a few friends from the hostel.

To escape the hectic city life, we took a night bus to Krabi in the south of Thailand. There, the beautiful yellow sandstones offer a perfect climbing paradise. As beginners, we had a great time on the natural climbing wall of Railay Beach for four hours. The next island on our island hopping tour was Ko Lanta. Our accommodation was located directly on one of the many beaches of this island. On a fun and lively evening, we met five motorcycle enthusiasts with whom we spent the next few evenings in cozy and small bars. Thank you Georg, Grisu, Schnegge, Andi, and Henri for pushing our livers to the limit.

In party mood again, we continued to the party island of Ko Phi Phi. Unfortunately, the mood turned after seeing the island, which was originally beautiful. However, due to high tourism, the island has been overcrowded with luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, and much more. We escaped to the sea, with its beautiful bays and dreamy beaches, perfect for snorkeling. We left the island with a beautiful sunrise over the sea.

We ended the island hopping in Phuket, where we spent our last day on the beach. We soaked up as much vitamin D as possible and took a night bus back to Bangkok.

As we love Thai cuisine so much and wanted to cook something for you, we decided to take a cooking class. We spent half a day buying fresh ingredients and Thai herbs, peeling, frying, and tasting the dishes. The dishes we cooked turned out to be delicious, even my creations.

We couldn't have ended our time in Thailand any better because on 26.04.2017 we flew to London to visit a good friend.

Best regards, your Egger girls

Hi guys,

We nearly did 12 months, but before the final 12 months, we decided to spend our last months in Thailand. We reached the country by land, only because there was a nearby border from Myanmar to Thailand. After a long and exciting drive, we arrived in the big city, Bangkok, on 11.04.2017. Our brains got flooded with all the information and things around us. For example, the big supermarkets with lots of food, the chaotic and loud traffic, and it was frustrating to choose a good restaurant. But anyway, you can do a lot in Bangkok. We visited the king's palace of Bhumibol Adulyade. The beautiful temples, halls, and splendid paintings were absolutely incredible, but we didn't enjoy them much because the heat and high temperatures were unbearable. Therefore, we celebrated the refreshing water festival, which takes 3 days. It starts from 13.04 to 17.04. The native people celebrate New Year's Eve, and it was so much fun. A couple of streets were closed, and buckets of ice water were placed for refilling water guns. All the people splashed water at each other, and you get wet everywhere the whole day long.

To relax a little bit, we drove down to the southern part of Thailand to Krabi. Many backpackers and rock climbing fans come here every year because of the good climbing rocks. We also tried to climb, and it worked, but after four hours on a stone wall, we got very exhausted.

The next island on our island hopping tour was Ko Lanta. It's a very small island that we crossed in about 2 hours by scooter. Our hostel was very close to the beach, so we spent most of the time at the beach bar. There, we met a group of motorbike enthusiasts/friends. We became friends with the five old men. We drank a lot in the next few evenings and nights, and thank you guys for a really good time.

After three days, we headed to the island Ko Phi Phi. But this island was not as beautiful as we imagined. There are so many hotels, bars, restaurants, and more. The good thing is that it's not necessary to stay on the mainland most of the time. You can go to different bays and beaches around Ko Phi Phi. We had a lot of fun during our snorkeling trip.

We finished the island hopping in Phuket. On our last day, we just lay around on the beautiful beaches, soaking up as much vitamin D as possible, and then drove back to Bangkok.

The food in Thailand is amazing, so we decided to take a cooking lesson/class for half a day. We bought fresh vegetables, fish, and spices. In the kitchen, we cut, peeled, and tasted our dishes, which we cooked ourselves. And of course, it tasted delicious.

On 26.04.2017, we flew to London to visit a good friend. We were both so excited.

Love, your Egger girls
