At night it rained a lot, and some kind of animal sneaked around my tent. Since the place was not fenced and I didn't know if there were still bears in the area, I didn't dare to look outside and convinced myself it was a hedgehog. The fact is that there was a howling concert, probably by wolves, in the previous night.
In the morning, I first made a coffee and packed my things calmly. I untangled the motorcycle, got ready for the journey, got on, turned the key, pressed the starter, and nothing happened. The engine turned over weakly only once. The battery was dead. Inflating an air mattress once, charging two power banks, and using the forgotten navigation device had drained the battery. So I had to undo half of it, remove the seat, and unscrew the battery cover. Fortunately, there was a very helpful caretaker. He brought his car and helped me jump-start the engine.
Lucky me. It would have been a catastrophe while wild camping.
My navigation device led me along a dirt track. Mountain on the left, a ravine on the right. Nothing special. According to the navigation, the track should lead to a side road. But the oil pump in the middle of the road didn't know about that. It was impossible to bypass it. So I turned back, which I really didn't like because I already knew that route, and took an alternative route.
It was still very nice to ride through the last foothills of the Carpathians. But then it became tedious. I always thought Hungary was tedious, but what I encountered here was even more tedious, it was super tedious. Occasionally interrupted by small typical village on the road, it was almost straight ahead. Fields stretching endlessly on both sides until the horizon. No trees, no bushes. Only a few power poles reminded me that civilization must still exist somewhere here.
After about 240 km, I reached my destination for today, Constanta in sight. Here, I found a hotel and got a room on the second floor. From the balcony, you have a view of the Black Sea.
Then I went out to eat, a small fish restaurant with a view of the sea. A great service from Moldova and the food was superb, I have never eaten this well in any restaurant before.
I had grilled sea bream fillets with carrots and green asparagus, perfectly cooked. Accompanied by a puree of parsnips. Amazing!
I received a small dessert and appetizer on the house, so I left a little more tip.
A short walk on the beach after the meal proved to me that the Black Sea is not black at all. It's probably just an invention by Habeck and Baerbock to confuse us 😉🤣
