Turku

Before heading to Sweden, we explored Turku.

We started the day with a Finnish breakfast at the Qwensel House, the former pharmacist's residence. The pharmacy and the Qwensel House are the oldest building in Turku.

After our meal, we went to Turku Castle. Well-preserved, but quite simple.

We strolled further to the harbor and the maritime museum. We could see some sailing ships, warships, boats, and ferries.

After that, we were more or less done with the sightseeing. Turku is a very sleepy little town. Internet research revealed that there is a small ferry that operates on the river. So we visited 'Föri'. A round trip was also included. Then we discovered an inclined lift that connects the former prison with the city center. The former prison now houses a residential area. The apartments looked nice, but the entire area is absolutely bleak. Everything, even the playground equipment, is gray. No grass, just fall protection (in various shades of gray), no trees.

After a quick snack, we headed to the ferry terminal. Check-in was quick, and boarding was done swiftly. This time, a nice cabin awaited us. We then went on deck and enjoyed the ride through the Finnish archipelago. Very beautiful!
