After repairing the bike, we first drive to Laukvik in the village, where we even find remnants of the campsite we were at seven years ago. The small grocery store still exists as well.
We take a little tour through the village, then visit the Hettemåke colony, a nature reserve 10 km away.
This time we were able to admire the surrounding mountains, which were hidden behind heavy rain last time.The birds have now flown away in September, but we enjoy the wonderful view and can pick plenty of cranberries and blueberries on the way back.A long dam separates the fjord from a large wetland, which is flooded at high tide.We spend the afternoon quietly with travel planning and the like before heading to Rob and Therese in the late evening, who give us tips on photographing the Northern Lights and Aurora in general in the observation room with lots of technology. Rob talks about his collaboration with the University of Tromsø, which he is very proud of. Scientists from all over the world rely on his solar eruption data.Activities are subdued tonight, so we initially set the alarm for 1:00 a.m., then for 3:00 a.m., before we can finally go to sleep since there is no Northern Lights.At this spot, we wanted to observe the Northern Lights tonight, but we are still here for another night or two...
