In autumn 2016 we wanted to go to the sea one last time. I love being by the sea and I would rather not go home anymore when I smell the salty air and hear the waves crashing.
We didn't have much time or a big budget. We came across the town of Middelkerke and booked a room in a guesthouse five minutes away from the sea.
The beach you see in the picture is the beach of Middelkerke. There are many tall buildings with huge windows and a few shops and restaurants around the promenade. I quite liked it, it was somehow different.
As you can see, I didn't notice much of the drive. It's very difficult for me to stay awake in the car. Meanwhile, I have a bit better control over my sleeping habits. I was awake almost the entire time on our last long drive!
We had a little car accident somewhere in Aachen. It wasn't that bad, it was just a rear-end collision, but it really didn't have to happen 😅
Then came the next problem right away. We couldn't fill up the car with gas and no one knew why. It was showing that the gas was supposedly empty (the car actually ran on gas, so we only filled up with petrol every now and then, but we needed petrol to start).
In the end, it turned out that the tank was just full and the stupid display was broken. Well, we made it there and back. Now we laugh about this incredibly stupid car ride, where we could have saved ourselves a lot of stress. Well, I had slept through half of it anyway. Poor Jannik.
If we weren't eating the 5-minute noodles that we had brought with us, we would buy something to eat somewhere.
Fortunately, breakfast was included in the guesthouse.
Belgium is known for its beer, its fries, and Belgian waffles.
We missed out on the fries for some reason. According to Jannik, the beer was good though and the waffles we ate were pretty tasty.
The weather was mixed. But we also had some sunny hours that we fully enjoyed.
You could rent various means of transportation at a reasonable price and cruise along the beautiful promenade 😁
The purpose of the short trip was to see the sea again - and we did. 👍🏼🌊
On our way back, we made a stop in the Mosel Valley and enjoyed the autumn sun and the beautiful view.
I love the colors of autumn. When the sun shines and everything shimmers in red, yellow, and orange, the mediocre temperatures hardly bother me anymore.
Enjoy every single one of our unique seasons as best you can! 😊🌬️🍂🍁🍃🌿
